I've been away for several months, not wanting to write yet another post about how I couldn't finish The Brothers Caramillo. I was starting to annoy myself with all the whining and excuse making. So, about a week ago, I just finished the damn thing. I powered through creating a third act, not worrying about adding every single plot detail that I needed to and just concentrated on finding a simple truth in the play about redemption. In the end, of course, I don't give any answers-- who the hell am I to try and tell people what "redemption" is, or what actions in this existence would "redeem" a person in the next, eternal existence? So, hopefully the play causes discussion and strong emotions. I've just sent it out to 9 theatres, and will send it to 4 more tomorrow once I can get to the post office.
So, from now until November when Naplwrimo pops up, I can just simmer, let the juices of the past plays bubble and warm the new ideas I've added to the mix, and ready myself to write a new play in a single month.
Best to all,
Chris
