Animus of the Amish

They don't have any. This terrible killing, massacre-- execution of young, Amish girls by a man who had "nightmares." And the Amish say, "Forgive." How can they bury their emotions? Don't they HATE this guy? Most of America HATES this guy and nothing's happened to us! How can they ignore the natural insticts to spit venom in the face of the one who attacked them?

But then... What would that gain? What does it gain to hate a dead man? That gives him worth. And that's wrong. He is worthless.

But the Amish don't believe that either. You know why? Because they "forgive" him. So, he is deserving of forgiveness, he must have some worth. Maybe it's the Amish people's lack of... complications in their lives that they are able to see a little more clearly than us. There is something pure in them.

But... God knows there's going to be some TV movie about this killing. And the purity will be tarnished. And that's wrong.
